In Ames, I won the 70-74 Triple Jump on my sixth and final jump, improving 43 centimeters to 8.74 meters on my last jump. I got third in the long jump and sixth in the high jump. I also got gold in the Shuttle Hurdles Relay, the 4 X 400 and the 4 X 800 Relays, with a silver in the 4 X 100.
A couple of weeks earlier, I competed in the USA Masters Champs in Grand Rapids, Michigan. All in one day, I won the High, Long and Triple Jumps, the
55 (Yes, 55!?) meter High Hurdles, the 100 meter HH (It should have been 80 HH, but they didn't want to bother), and the 300 Intermediate Hurdles, with a second in the 55 meter dash. And all in the rain!
